Every struggle we face in life can be traced to a deficiency in wisdom in the area we are struggling in. Wisdom is so pivotal for success in life that the scriptures tell us that skillful and godly wisdom is the principal thing (proverbs 4:7). Those that walk in it experience peace, increase and multiplication while those that walk in foolishness experience the exact opposite.
The effects of godly wisdom can be seen in the life of King Solomon. It is said that during his reign as king, silver was as common as sand. Many kings and queens travelled very long distances to hear Solomon speak. He was the wisest and the riches king that ever lived. The results of Gods wisdom on King Solomon’s life cannot be denied however the thing that triggered process for the wisdom to be released in the first place was worship. I bet you did not realize that worship was the catalyst for wisdom, did you. I can prove it to you.
1 Kings 3:4-5 says “The king went to Gibeon [near Jerusalem, where stood the tabernacle and the bronze altar] to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. One thousand burnt offerings Solomon offered on that altar.5In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night. And God said, Ask what I shall give you.”
Solomon had just spent quality time in worship, offering one thousand burnt offerings to the Lord. He so lavished on God his substance that God had to appear to him at night to ask what He could do for him. This is so powerful; God the author of wisdom, strength, inspiration and direction is moved seriously when we lavish on Him sacrificial and reverential worship.
Another scripture that solidifies this thought is proverbs 1:7 which says “The reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is the beginning and the principal and choice part of knowledge [its starting point and its essence]; but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline. [AMP]”
Worship done in reverence with a heart sold to God can trigger Gods wisdom to flow. Worship precedes wisdom. Sometimes instead of trying to calculate or figure things out, just spend time in worship and God will release the wisdom you need for the circumstance. It is true that wisdom can be found in books, it is true that wisdom can be found in schools, however godly wisdom is found in God. When we worship Him effectively God releases His wisdom into the situations of our lives. I have experienced it many times, especially during times of confusion when I don’t know what to do and when there is a strong urge to take matters in my own hands. In moments like that, I hear God say “Son quit trying to solve it on your own, come to me in worship.” Many times in times of prayer and worship, the answer or an idea will suddenly come out. So in conclusion, if you are lacking wisdom in an area, ask God for wisdom as you worship Him reverentially. God bless you.
